Scholarships and Awards

There are many different types of bursaries, scholarships, and awards; you probably qualify for one. The Financial Aid office is prepared to help you with your scholarship, bursary, government loan applications, or to assist in budgeting for your university education. In recent years, students receiving financial aid were given an average of $2,015.

Entrance Scholarships

The President’s Scholarship - The President’s Scholarship is a renewable entrance scholarship awarded to every new full-time student who is accepted into a BA or BRE program. It has three levels:

  • Distinction: $5,000 for a minimum average of 90% (3.90 GPA or 1200 SAT or 27 ACT) in their top six grade 12 U or M courses (including ENG4U).
  • Excellence: $2,000 for an average between 80% and 89.9% (3.70-3.89 GPA or 1130 - 1190 SAT or 25 - 26 ACT) in their top six grade 12 U or M courses (including ENG4U).
  • Merit: $1,000 for an average between 75% and 79.9% (3.00-3.69 GPA or 1060 - 1120 SAT or 23 - 24 ACT) in their top six grade 12 U or M courses (including ENG4U).

To renew this Scholarship, a minimum GPA has to be maintained (down-gradable if GPA is not at the current scholarship level). For those granted one of the President’s scholarships, a reception will be held in the spring.

Timothy Scholarship - $500 awarded to 6 full-time students who are dependents of a parent employed full-time by a church, mission organization, or a Christian elementary or high school.

Children of Alumni Scholarship - $500 awarded to 5 first-year full-time students who are dependents of a former student of Tyndale University College & Seminary (or OBC/OTS). Parent must have completed the equivalent of one full-time year at Tyndale.

Invitational Scholarship Competition - This is an annual competition for students with high academic standing to vie for a scholarship providing a full year’s tuition. Entry into this competition is by invitation only.

Many entrance scholarships are available. You can earn up to $5,000 per year. Come and talk to Financial Aid even if you don’t think you qualify.

Sponsorship Programs

There may be a sponsorship program suited to your unique situation and needs. Many churches have helped students from their congregations attend Tyndale through the Church match program. Financial Aid will be happy to discuss these options with you.

General Bursaries

Awarded on the basis of financial need. General Bursaries are available to full-time returning students with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Special Bursaries

Special Bursaries are available for full-time students including bursaries for spouses and families attending Tyndale together, seniors, and members of the Association of Christian Schools International members, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), Youth for Christ (YFC), or Power to Change (P2C).
