Music and Worship Arts Minor
You have a melody playing in your mind throughout the day, and you want to sing it out loud. Or your fingers desire to pick up your instrument. When you sing or play it, the music lifts your spirits high and you are transported to a whole new world. Continue to grow in your love for and ability in music through innovative courses and mentorship that will help you reach your full potential as a musician.
Grow and stretch yourself as you work through the tough questions worship leaders face, such as what it means to be authentic and how to navigate the battle between generations and cultures when it comes to musical style in today’s church. You will have opportunities to perform or lead worship both on campus and across the city through the internship program. Increase your musical breadth as you work with expert faculty, who will open you up to everything from Gospel, to Motown, to Handel.
Pursue a Music minor and develop your passion for music and the worship arts. Continue to grow in your music ability in private lessons and aural (ear) training and by participating in a choir, band or orchestra music ensemble. You will gain a strong foundation in music through Music Theory and Music History courses.
With a Music minor, you will have several career options after university: music teacher, music therapy, composing, worship director, music software work and more. You can also use the Music minor towards a Bachelor of Education degree teachable credit to become a music teacher.
